How We Dress Influences How Others Perceive Us

"Don't judge a book by its cover." How many time did your parents, teachers and others tell you this as you grew up? Perhaps it's true, but people DO just a book by its cover - and they just people by their appearances. That's why fashion is more than just what we throw on our bodies to cover ourselves. It's why clothes are more than just "this is my personal style - take it or leave it."
I found this article today online that totally blew my mind. A British girl experimented with fashion, creating several different "looks" and changing her photo daily on a dating website, then logging the responses to her outfits and style. All other portions of her online profile remained the same; her bio, her interested, her statistics. She even took the photo at the same time each day and in the same place. What changed? Her hair, makeup and clothing style.
I'm not surprised by the results, but I am surprised that other people are surprised. Should this be common sense?
